What is a care farm?

A care farm is an agricultural farm which is used to promote the mental and physical wellbeing of people through the working of the land.

Who are Care Farming Scotland?

Care Farming Scotland (CFS) is a fully constituted company, and a registered charity. CFS is not actively involved in the delivery of care farming services, but aims to support those who are through:

  • Awareness raising
  • Provision of information and advice
  • Developing networking opportunities
  • Training
  • Lobbying
  • Policy development

Its intention is to help to put those who are commissioning health and social care, or seeking education or development opportunities, in touch with interested land mangers, and help to build a shared understanding of the opportunities available.  

I would be interested in diversifying into Care Farming - what could I do?

There are a range of bodies to whom you could go to find out more about diversifying into Care Farming, including This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. In addition, the Scottish Agricultural College (SAC)'s advisory network has a specialist who can have an initial discussion with you and answer general questions. If you would like to get involved with running a Care Farm, you should approach the farm directly. We are in the process of constructing a section of this site which will contain the contact details of the Care Farms in Scotland - please check back soon!
